Management

ImageLouis Schilders - CEO

Louis has more than 30 years experience in ICT, in particular in EDI and messaging services. He worked as a consultant at the European Commission (4 years) in the early days of information exchange, long before the Internet became a commodity. In 1994 he founded MediBRIDGE, the first medical information exchange platform in Europe. The patient medical record, its protection, the patient's privacy threats... in general everything that deals with medical information made from him a passionate expert in healthcare ICT. Before joining Custodix in 2006, Louis was Corporate Chief Information Officer (CIO) of CMPMedica, a division of United Business media, dealing with drug information in 34 countries. Graduated as Electrical Engineer at the University of Ghent (Belgium), he worked for several companies as systems analyst, project leader and IT consultant.

 

ImageBrecht Claerhout - COO

Brecht is an Electronics Engineer by education, but has been involved in (Open Source) security software development while studying at the Ghent University. He has started his professional carreer as researcher at IMEC. Before joining Custodix, he was employed by RAMIT (Research in Advanced Medical Informatics and Telematics) for PKI and smartcard implementations in the scope of the European Trusthealth II project (IST). While working at Custodix, Brecht has been and still is involved in a number of research projects focusing on privacy and security in the healthcare environment, as for example: PRIDEH-GEN (EU-IST-2001-38719) concerning privacy protection of genetic information, COPLINTHO (Flanders-IWT) dealing with Service Oriented Architectures in healthcare and more recently the ACGT (Advanced Clinico-Genomic Trials on Cancer) Integrated Project. Brecht has further advised the Belgian Telematics Commission (Ministry of Health) on several security subjects; and has been acting as a guest speaker at Ghent University. Brecht has published several conference and journal papers on the subject of security and privacy protection. He is also co-founder of the "Center for Data Protection" non-profit organisation.

ImageDavid Voets - Lead Project Manager

David Voets holds a Master Degree in Software Development and has a few years of experience in participating in European research (IST-projects), including the INFOBIOMED Network of Excellence (IST-2004-507585). INFOBIOMED was aimed at enforcing European Biomedical Informatics as an integrative discipline with a a view on supporting individualised healthcare. He has worked on privacy protection solutions for bio-medical informatics and generic policy driven privacy protection services. He has also focused on service oriented architectures in healthcare. David is the lead technical project manager at Custodix responsible for the development of privacy protected data collection solutions as well as secure messaging and storage infrastructures.
